Lesson 9 to be Premiered

Lesson 9 of the "Learn Chinese with Serena" series is scheduled to be premiered on the Day2DayChinese channel of Youtube at 5pm, Friday, February 26, 2021.

In this lesson, we will learn how to make why-question sentences with 为什么[wèi shén mē] and its shorter variant 为何[wèi hé].

Traditional and Simplified Forms of the same character may belong to different radical categories, thus located in different parts of their respective dictionaries, such as 为 and 為.

The former has one "dot" 丶[diǎn] radical and the latter has a four-dot "fire" 灬[huǒ] radical.

Knowledge of radicals and stroke counting is thus crucial to learning Chinese.

Knowing the stroke counts of radicals helps you find the right radical category and the stroke counts besides the radical helps you quickly locate the right word within the specific radical category.

Do you know that a single horizontal stroke can be used as a radical to a word? Do you know that a single dot can also be a radical by itself?

In this lesson, we will show you several examples.

More examples of binary, ternary, and quad layout styles are presented in this lesson.

There are seven new words in this lesson.
