Why this calendar? What is the difference between this calendar and yours? Why this calendar dominates the life of the Chinese almost 100%? Why this calendar represents the fundamental scale of Chinese culture? It is a calendar created and is composed of 农历[nón lì] and 公历[gōng lì] , the Gregorian calendar.
The traditional Chinese calendar is 农历[nón lì] , commonly known as the lunar calendar. Chinese have been using 农历[nón lì] for more than 2,100 years. 公历[gōng lì] , known as the solar calendar introduced until 1912. The government of the Republic of China clearly stated that January 1, 1912, was the first day of the first year. The Chinese call the first day of the new calendar year 新历元旦[xīn lì yuán dàn] . Since then, the Chinese have New Year's Day and celebrate the holiday with people all over the world. However, the Chinese are still keeping on celebrating their traditional new year, 农历新年[nón lì xīn nián] . The coming traditional new year is February 12 of 2021, compared to the lunar calendar.
The purpose of this short essay is intended to introduce a little bit about the date of the Chinese New Year. X maybe is the Gregorian calendar, while Y,the lunar calendar. And how about “Z”? Is Chinese culture and life?
