Freewriting in Chinese: A Helpful Suggestion to Beginners

What is freewriting?

Freewriting is a technique to train people to write down their thoughts as they emerged. Writers do not need to worry about grammar, spelling, or sentence structure.

Freewriting is an effective tool as a hands-on approach for a beginner to learning Chinese.

You could write down as much as you can in Chinese, either words or phrases, to express your own thoughts.

You might even mix Chinese with your native language, or pinyin when you could not write the word, or draw when you do not know how to say it.

Practice freewriting every day for 10-15 minutes.

All you need is a pen and a journal to get started.

As our lessons move on, go back to your previous written pages and revise your freewriting from what you have known.

You may find out that there are more and more Chinese words in your freewriting and a much more coherent presentation of your thoughts.
