Sentences begin with "让我(Let Me)" which is frequently used in daily life. "让我说故事[ràng wǒ shuō gù shì], Let me tell a story" is the topic sentence of Lesson 3.

In this lesson, there are other examples of retroflex consonants [r] of "让[ràng]" and [sh] of "说[shuō]." The pronunciation tips are presented with graphics of tongue position to help students understand how to produce the sound.
